“He is interested clearly in the depiction of urban environments, in urban environments in transition,” said co-curator Reid Shier.
“His early work in Vancouver was largely taken on the Downtown Eastside and back in the day in the seventies, there was and has always been an area that has been troubled.”
Much of Girard’s early Vancouver work can be found in Under Vancouver, 1972-1982.But Vancouver was only the beginning of his story.
