Curated by Max King, Cave Gallery
Drawing inspiration from André Breton’s poignant question, “Isn’t the real significance of a work, not the meaning we think we give it, but the meaning it is likely to take in relation to what surrounds it?” Objects of Affection explores the interplay between objects, context, and the observer’s interpretation. On view is a captivating presentation of works by gallery artists along with rare and internationally sourced design pieces curated by Max King. The exhibition transcends the conventional boundaries of artistic expression, embracing the paradoxical order of eclectic curation and the natural world.
Max King collects and deals rare and internationally sourced design pieces, from Joe Colombo, Gaetano Pesce, and Tobia Scarpa to one-of-a-kind Japanese antiques. In 2021 King curated PATINA in the windows of Inform Interiors (50 Water Street, Vancouver) presenting famous designs that have been well-worn over time by their collectors, demonstrating the quality and timelessness of these designs.
